On the 30th of August 2024 and using my ELIKLIV microscope and Vantage 10X loupe to examine this coin and describe it thusly. The Obverse shows a diagonal mark between the rim edge and the tip of her chin, a 3 ding mark at the front lower edge point of the neck, a diagonal mark below star #1 on the left side, a horizontal mark to the right of star #1 & 2, 5 dings in the headdress feathers at the mid point and above the "BER", diagonal marks on the cheek and a mark on the chin and light scarring on the right side of the neck, horizontal mark on the hair closest to the neck just to the left of the headdress feathers. I do not see any toning, spotting, or cloudiness. The Reverse has a light small mark above the "O" of "DOLLAR", 2 vertical dings between the 2nd "T" of "TRUST" and the leaves at the end of the branch, a ding between the "G D" of "GOD WE", 3 horizontal marks above the beak and to the right of the 1st "S" of "STATES", a mark on the "N" of UNITED", a horizontal mark below the "AT" of "STATES", a diagonal mark below the "O" of "OF", a light diagonal scratch below the 2nd "A" of "AMERICA", light scarring in the field to the right of the lower feathers, horizontal marks in the feathers of the front edge of the left wing at the 3rd, 4th, & 5th row of feathers. I see no toning, spotting, or cloudiness. This is a nice coin with a minimum of marks for an MS62. This coin is held in a PCGS Generation 6 holder used from May 2014 to October 2020.

By Indian Head eagle standards, the 1908 With Motto is a "common" issue. In MS-63 or lower grade, examples can be found with relatively little difficulty. In MS-64, the issue becomes more difficult to locate, but there are still enough around that one can usually be found with a little effort. At the MS-65 level and above the 1908 With Motto is rare, but not especially so, and in any one year's period a handful or more true gems will turn up. There are some superb, nearly perfect examples of this issue in existence. For example, the piece that was in Florida dealer Marty Haber's personal type set would be graded MS-68 or MS-69 by the strictest standards, and there are others of similar quality.

The 1908 With Motto is generally very sharply struck, and the lustre is typically very good to excellent. Most specimens have a satiny texture to the surface, and the color varies from rich yellow gold to medium greenish yellow gold to light orange and greenish gold. Like the 1908 No Motto, a top quality specimen of this issue is invariably extremely attractive with an excellent strike, and fine lustre and color.
