On the 1st of September 2024 and using my ELIKLIV microscope and Vantage 10X loupe, I examined this coin and describe it thusly. The Obverse shows a horizontal mark that looks like it continues to the right on the "1" of the date, several light horizontal scratches from the rim to the date and the chin, a ding to the left of the nose, a light diagonal scratch to the left of the eyebrows and forehead, a short diagonal mark to the right of the 1st star, a heavy rub mark to the left of the headdress and with the 4th star, a horizontal mark at the top of the feather above the "ER" of "LIBERTY", a small ding between the 2nd & 3rd star on the right side, a vertical mark on the eyebrow, a diagonal mark on the temple area, 2 diagonal marks on the upper cheek below the eye, a diagonal mark on the chin tip, the cheek has light scarring, light vertical marks in the hair on the ear area, a heavy short ding on the neck base above the "9" of the date, a ding on the lower neck above the 1st "1" of the date, a horizontal ding at the lower side and another at the mid point & a vertical mark between the 2 marks on the feather above the "T" of "LIBERTY". I see no toning, spotting, or cloudiness. The Reverse has short diagonal marks below the "R" "S" "T" of "TRUST", 2 marks between the "UN" of "UNITED" and the wing tip and leading to a mark on the "N" of "IN" , 2 small vertical dings below the "A" of "STATES" and the beak, a ding below the "TE" of "STATES", a diagonal mark below the "OF", a horizontal mark above the "US" of "PLURIBUS", a diagonal light rub between the "CA" of "AMERICA" and the "M" of "UNUM", 5 dings in the feathers of the upper left wing across and to the right of "IN" and below the "P" of "PLURIBUS", more dings in the wing feathers further down and below "UNUM", 5 vertical dings in the end of the wing feathers above the arrow feathers, a mark in the bottom wing feather directly above the eagles left leg and claw. Both the Obverse & Reverse are similar in look and contact marks. This coin is held in a PCGS Generation 6 holder used from May 2014 to October 2020.

The 1911 is a common issue, one of the easiest to obtain in the series. In fact, only the very common 1926 and 1932 are more often seen than this issue. Below gem quality, i.e. MS-64 or less, the 1911 can be located quite easily. True gems are only moderately rare and can be found with little effort. There are some spectacular, nearly perfect examples of this issue in existence.

The 1911 is always well struck and most specimens have finely granular, frosty surfaces. A few specimens, however, have very little granularity and have a satin texture. Lustre varies greatly on this issue from average (for the series) to outstanding. As is always the case, the satiny ones are more radiant than the frosty ones although many of the latter are also extremely lustrous. Color is a strong point of this issue. Light to medium orange and greenish gold is the predominant color but a number of greenish yellow examples are also known.
