On the 2nd of September 2024 and using my ELIKLIV microscope and Vantage 10X loupe, I examined this coin and describe it thusly. The Obverse shows a light vertical mark just below the nose, a vertical mark to the right of the 1st star, a strong rub mark to the right of the 2nd & 3rd star, a diagonal light scratch and a heavier mark just to the right or below the 3rd star, a vertical mark on the bottom of the headdress feather above the "LI" of "LIBERTY", marks at the top and mid point on the feather above the "BE", a large rub mark at the top of the feather, just below the star, on the feather above the "ER", a mark on the bottom on each feather above the "TY", 2 dings on the nose tip, a vertical mark below the eye, 2 marks on the eyebrow, 2 dings and light scarring on the cheek, a long vertical mark and a rub mark in the hair just down from and to the right of the "Y" of "LIBERTY", 2 short vertical marks in the hair at the ear. I see no toning, spotting, or cloudiness. The Reverse has a small mark between the "R" of "TRUST" and the end leaves of the olive branch, a light diagonal mark between "IN" and the wing, marks between the rim edge and "GOD", a small ding at the rim edge to the left and below the 1st "T" of "TRUST", a small ding below the beak and above the right wing tip, a 3 digit vertical mark above the "U" of "PLURIBUS", 2 dings, 3 light diagonal marks and scarring below the "CA" of "AMERICA", light scarring at the rim edge below the 2nd "A" of "AMERICA", 5 dings in a horizontal line on the chest and left wing feathers, many light marks on the left wing feathers from the mid point and down toward the bottom of the feathers, a small mark at the top of the right leg feathers, marks on 3 of the lower arrow shafts above the "O" of "DOLLAR", diagonal marks on the feathers on the left leg, a light ding on the tail feathers below the left wing and above the "S" of "DOLLARS". Both the Obverse and Reverse are similar in look and contact marks are low on the Reverse. This coin is held in a PCGS Generation 6 holder used from May 2014 to October 2020.

David Akers (1975/88)

The 1911 is a common issue, one of the easiest to obtain in the series. In fact, only the very common 1926 and 1932 are more often seen than this issue. Below gem quality, i.e. MS-64 or less, the 1911 can be located quite easily. True gems are only moderately rare and can be found with little effort. There are some spectacular, nearly perfect examples of this issue in existence.

The 1911 is always well struck and most specimens have finely granular, frosty surfaces. A few specimens, however, have very little granularity and have a satin texture. Lustre varies greatly on this issue from average (for the series) to outstanding. As is always the case, the satiny ones are more radiant than the frosty ones although many of the latter are also extremely lustrous. Color is a strong point of this issue. Light to medium orange and greenish gold is the predominant color but a number of greenish yellow examples are also known.
