Several 1921 VAM varieties feature reverses with some degree of pitting in various elements of the deisgn.  The reverses with the most pitting are seen on VAM 41, VAM 41A, and VAM 41B (all die states of the same die) and only VAM 41A and 41B are recognized as "Pitted Reverses" for purposes of the Top 100.  Thus, varieties with lesser degrees of pitting command smaller premiums.
