1922-D VAM 3 PCGS MS62 Peace Dollar, "Top 50" VAM die variety "Doubled Leaves" on reverse. Very scarce in this condition. At time of purchase, only 18 coins graded higher in PGGS census. Purchased 6/16/2022 at eBay auction (7 bidders) for $271 + $2.45 shipping = $273.45 total for Connor. The next highest 3 bids clustered in $251-$266 range. This VAM’s title is self-explanatory as it has doubling on the leaves (on the reverse below the eagle), but also has doubling on the downward feathers near the eagle’s talons. This VAM is truly difficult to spot in the wild (even with the coin in-hand). Therefore, it is expected that only 49 total examples (6 of which in MS 62) were registered by PCGS at time of purchase. As there is an imbalance in supply/demand, PCGS values MS 62 at $300.
