1926-S $1 Peace PCGS MS63 VAM 5 Doubled Reverse "Top 50" VAM die variety. This is a rare very low-population VAM (only 17 of this grade or higher in PCGS census at time of purchase). Purchased for $370 cash at Baltimore coin show 11/15/2024 from dealer Brian Raines (American Legacy Nimismatics) who had discovered this coin and paid to have it slabbed at PCGS. He initially offered it for $350, but then had 2nd thoughts honoring that price, realizing he had probably priced it too low. When I went to pay, he insisted on adding $20 "tax" despite me paying in cash, and him not giving me a receipt. I texted Connor from the show asking him if he still wanted it at $370, and he said yes since it's so rare "it could be 4 years before we see another". At time of purchase, PCGS retail was $425, and only 4 prior comparable sales listed at Heritage ($336, $411, $470, $540).
