The 1950 Proof Washington Quarter is the first coin struck after the Mint took an 8 year hiatus in producing proof coinage. When the Mint struck the 1950 coins, it appears as if they produced better quality coins as compared to 1936-1942 coinage. As we now start seeing Cameo and Deep Cameo surfaces on some 1950 Proof Quarters. Although examples survive for 1950 Quarters with Cameo and Deep Cameo surfaces, they are very scarce.

Examples exhibiting Cameo surfaces probably survive in the couple hundreds more or less. Examples displaying Deep Cameo surfaces are extremely scarce with less than a dozen known. Any examples featuring Cameo surfaces is a diamond in the rough. Any example displaying Deep Cameo surfaces is like finding Tanzinite (a mineral much rarer than diamonds).
