By the second year of producing the Eisenhower Dollar, the Mint realized there was very little demand for the Eisenhower Dollars. Therefore, in 1973, it drastically cut down production for 1973 Dollars and it only produced a total of 2 million coins from each Mint.
MS65: In MS65 grade they are scarce and possibly no more than 2,500 examples exist in this grade or higher.
MS66: Despite its low mintage, the 1973 Eisenhower Dollar compares to other coins like the 1971-P, 1972-P and 1974-P in MS66 grade. There are probably less than 250 examples which survive in MS66 grade or higher for the 1973-P Eisenhower Dollar.
Mint Set: The 1973-P Eisenhower Dollars were not produced for circulation and they were only sold in Mint Sets by the U.S. Mint. Each 1973 Mint Set came in a sealed white envelope labeled, U.S. Mint 1973, on the outside of the envelope.
