[RG-031]* 1974 MW 100 Złotych (Madame Curie) PR67DCAM { PCGS-5 }. Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the death of Maria Sklodowska Curie her work with Radium is artistically and simply illustrated with an appropriate graphic overlay. The ample and impressive mirrored fields are deeply reflective. Madame Curie was the first person to win two Nobel Prizes; in 1903 for her work in Physics to understand radioactivity and then in 1911 for Chemistry and their discovery of Polonium and Radium. Her place is well-earned on the top-100 women in a world and time that afforded women few opportunities. There were 50,000 of this 62.5% silver non-circulating commemorative struck at the Mint of Poland (mintmark stylized "mw" (m over w) next to eagle's left claw. This mint mark is seen on many South Pacific coins in this collection; but it is somehow appropriate for this coin to be made in Warsaw! * Number 31 in Ron Guth's book "100 Greatest Women in Coins".
