The 1983 Olympic Dollar was struck to celebrate the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles, California. This year the Mint struck three Uncirculated Olympic Dollars at three different Mints which were the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints. It also produced a Proof version with the S mint mark. Each 1983-P,D or S mint mark Dollar had the same obverse and reverse designs.

Obverse: The obverse shows a discus thrower. Three different shadow outlines are shown to resemble the throwers movement. It has the inscriptions, "Los Angeles XXIII", "Olympiad", "In God We Trust", "1983" and the word" Liberty".

Reverse: The reverse has circle surrounding the design. The inside circle shows a large bald eagle with the words, "E Pluribus Unum". The outside circle has the words "United Sates of America", and "One Dollar".

Issue Price: $28.
