[RG-075]* nd(1985)-nm(B) India 100 Rupee Indira Gandhi MS67 { PCGS-5 }. The life of Indira Gandhi spanned nearly 70 years, serving 11 of those as Prime Minister of India. Although she shared the famous name of Mahatma made famous for non-violent protest, they were not related. This half-silver 100 Rupee is the highest denomination of four coins made to pay tribute to Indira Gandhi following her assassination by her Seik bodyguards in 1984, and the only one struck in silver (50% Fine). This PQ gem example was a one-year issue. It has no date of issue and is minted in Bombay the year following her death. The mint is designated by the dot beneath the dash between the two dates distinguishing it from proof specimens that would have a “B” there instead. This was part of a 2-coin mint set offered with the 20 Rupee coin. Four coin sets including the 50 Paise and 5 Rupee coins were also available.
