[ RG-004 ]* 1984-FM Egypt ₤100 Cleopatra PR70DCAM { PCGS-5 }. The Queen of Egypt appears with her signature Nekhbet vulture headdress in profile looking west towards Rome presenting a regal image against expansive open multiply-reflective fields in a design superbly rendered by The Franklin Mint. The classic F-over-M mintmark appears on the reverse above the letter “R” in "A.R.E" (Arab Republic of Egypt). Reigning during the time before Christ in the age of Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, Cleopatra is the subject of this second-year type issue with a much lower mintage of just 2,121 pieces, compared to the 16,000 for Nefertiti in the previous inaugural year. This ½-ounce golden gem perfectly captures the stoic image of Cleopatra that we all share and who seemed quite adept at playing "The Game of Thrones". The wings of her vulture headpiece drape down either side protecting the pharaoh. On the reverse the elegant design features the date and denomination in stylized Latin and Arabic text. She became the archetype for antiquity for the femme fatale. This Top-Pop (1/0) gem has flawless mirrors with pooled reflectivity that dazzles the eye and perfectly frosted devices and was graded as perfect by both NGC and PCGS.
