In 1989, the U.S. Mint comemmorated the 200th anniversary of the United States Congress by issuing specially designed Half Dollars, Silver Dollars, and Five Dollar gold pieces.  The obverse of the $5 gold features the dome of the Capitol; the reverse depicts the gilt eagle carving that adorns the top of the canopy above the Senate President's desk in the Old Senate Chamber.  Both Mint State and Proof versions were sold to collectors at a premium over the gold value.  All of the Congress Bicentennial gold coins were struck at the West Point Mint.

This is a relatively common coin that can be located with ease in superb condition.
