The 1993 World War II Proof Silver Commemoratives were struck to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the United States involvement in World War II. The Mint struck an Uncirculated and proof Silver Dollar with the same design. The coins have a dual date of 1991 - 1995 although they were issued in 1993.
Obverse: Features a soldier in battle on the beach of Normandy on D-Day or June 06,1944. In the back ground there are other soldiers also in combat. The obverse has the inscriptions, In God We Trust, D-Day June 6, 1944, 1999-1995, and Liberty.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin has a shoulder sleeve insignia of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. The reverse also has a quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower, "I Have Full Confidence in Your Courage, Devotion to Duty and Skill in Battle. We Will Accept Nothing Less than Full Victory!" The reverse also has other inscriptions which indicate, United States of America, E Pluribus Unum and the W mint mark indicating it was struck at the West Point Mint.
