Mintage: 72,850. Of the 56 kangaroo species found in Australia the largest is the Red Kangaroo. Weighing up to almost 100 kilograms, a full grown male can stand as high as a human and cruise the rugged terrain of the outback at 20-25 km/h, twice as fast if threatened. Each hop can be an amazing six meters and boundary fences are easily jumped with daylight to spare. The reverse features a Red Kangaroo and its reflection whilst drinking from a waterhole. The reverse of this beautiful coin was designed by Horst Hahne, Chief Engraver at the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra.
