The Thomas Jefferson Missing Edge Lettering dollar is the third missing edge coin in the Presidential dollar series. It is much tougher than the Washington Missing Edge by a long shot, since PCGS has graded well over 20,000 Washington Missing Edge Lettering dollars. It is also scarcer than the Adams Missing Edge lettering Dollar as PCGS has graded over 1,800 of the Adams Missing Edge Lettering examples.

PCGS has graded approximately 1,300 coins for the Thomas Missing Edge Lettering dollars. These coins tend to be well struck as the majority of them are in the grade of MS66. Initially, a few examples were found when the coins were first released. However, a couple of months later additional examples surfaced. What is puzzling is that very few coins have surfaced at auction despite there being more than 1,300 examples in existence.

Some of the first few sales were well in the $5,000 range.
