The 2012-S Hawaii Volcano National Park Quarters were released by the U.S. Mint on August 27, 2012. The Mint released a P and D mint mark Hawaii Volcano Quarter into circulation as well. However, the "S" mint mark Quarters were only sold to collectors and did not enter circulation. The "S" mint mark coins were struck by the Mint to try and popularize the America the Beautiful Coin series. Time will tell if the "S" mint mark and the America the Beautiful Quarters will be popular amongst collectors.
