The 2014-W Proof Gold Eagles were officially offered by the Mint on April 03, 2014. The coins were being offered in $5, $10, $25, $50 denominations or as a 4 piece Proof Set. The price of the $50 Proof Gold Eagle was set at $1,610 with a maximum set mintage of 20,000 as a product limit and 35,000 as a mintage limit. 

Most coins were well struck and came in PR68-PR69 Deep Cameo condition. Coins grading PR70 Deep Cameo were much more scarce. However, enough coins were struck in this condition to meet collectors demand that premiums in PR70 Deep Cameo are reasonable.
