From 2010 - 2021, the U.S. Mint struck 5 oz Quarters. There are 5 different coin designs struck each year. The Mint produced the coins in two different finishes, which are the MS (Mint State) or Bullion version and the Uncirculated SP (Special Strike) version. PCGS designates the Mint State versions as "MS' on the holder and designates the Uncirculated versions as "SP on the holder." Both coins are easy to differentiate.
The Mint State Bullion version has more of a circulation strike look, and somewhat more of a light prooflike or mirror like appearance. Therefore, PCGS designates these with a PL (Prooflike) or DMPL (Deep Mirror Proof Like) designation if the coins meet the PL or DMPL criteria. Coins without PL or DMPL designation, usually sell for the least amount of money. The PL's usually sell for a slight premium over the non PL or non DMPL designated coins. While the DMPL designated coins sell for slightly higher prices than the PL coins. Therefore, DMPL coins are usually the most expensive from the three different designations.
The Uncirculated or "SP" version has a satin like finish and should lack the prooflike or mirror like surfaces. The Bullion version is only sold to U.S. Mint Authorized Purchasers in bulk large quantities who then distribute the coins to dealers or collectors. The Uncirculated SP version is sold individually to collectors by the U.S. Mint, and the coins come in special packaging. These coins are usually sold for higher premiums than their counterpart versions. Some SP examples have been found lacking the Satin Finish on the coins surfaces, these are very rare and command very high premiums.
