The United States Mint first offered the $100 2023-W Proof Platinum Eagles to its customers on February 23, 2024. The price for each coin was originally $1,545, if purchased directly from the U.S. Mint on the first week of sales. After the first week of sales, the Mint could have adjusted the coin's price depending on the bullion market’s spot price of platinum. The maximum authorized mintage for the coins was set at 12,000.
