Acquired by "Schulman" in 1973 by Floyd Farley. Don Parsley, the son-in-law of Al Overton purchased the piece from Farley in November of 1989. Luster is still evident around the protected areas and adorned by a small band of blue/green album toning.

This is an O-102 with XXX edge. PCGS did not make note of it on the certification. The toning is from storage in a kraft envelope.

From Downey Mail Bid 55 and described by the cataloguer - A Red Book staple with too much luster for the assigned grade. The bodacious obverse glows with sunset colors; the reverse is similar, a touch more modest because of (the usual) weakness at the eagle’s head and left wing. XF and AU examples of the “R.1” E over A are devilishly hard to find. I see but one or two a year. An old friend from MB 41, August 2015, lot 30.

From Downey mail bid auction 57 in January 2024 described as: PCGS “rattler,” lot 8388 from Heritage Sept. 2012 sale where it brought $2,354. Brilliant centers, dazzling luster and a welcome halo of russet through the stars and legend. Q. David Bowers sold the coin to the Heritage consignor during a 1974 Long Beach Show as “UNC with rub.” No argument. There are traces of friction on the portrait; the fields are unscathed save for a contact mark twixt left wing and neck. Well struck throughout. Maybe a hint of weakness, lower drapery. A virtual lock to grade “58” today.

Ex NGC 40. Luster shows in hidden areas and around yellow and orange toning. Pretty, circulated coin!
Beaver Falls Collection O-102. Coin has highly reflective surfaces that shimmer with rose and blue. Coin exhibits full luster that would carry a higher grade save a drift mark and dark toning on the portrait.
Ex Osborne, Downey MB52, Photos by Lance Keigwin. Light rose centers, flanked by turquoise and gold iridescence through the stars and legend. A faint drift mark (planchet imperfection) crosses the portrait. In hand, it blends with the lovely toning. From MB 16, lot 115, Jan. 21, 1996. Possibly the favorite coin in my collection.

Another coin that was tucked away in an album for several decades. Antique toning blends with the luster befitting a 55. Immaculate surfaces save a stray staple scratch on the reverse near the left wing.
From Sheridan Downey MB41 at the winter FUN show 2016. Attractive rainbow toning accents the obverse. Ex Keigwin.
From Downey Mail Bid 55 described as - The scarce early die state, with die lines alongside the date and no die break at stars 2-7. Iridescent gold toning through the stars and legend provides an eye-catching frame for the antique grey centers. The surfaces are virtually free of contact marks. From David Kahn, privately, in Nov. 2009 as rare prime R.5.

Bright golden gives way to blue and red hues on the obverse. The inverse is true on the reverse. One of a kind! Ex Keigwin.

More than adequate luster is a nice companion to the blue and red luster. Nice even wear on the devices is fitting for the grade. Ex Keigwin.

Very tough R5 variety. Only 8 graded higher by PCGS. Dark toning envelops both sides of the coin and has covered up some light hits across the lightly circulated surfaces.

The toughest 1820 variety outside of the O-107, the O-104 was just reduced from a R4 to a R3. Still hard to find one that is attractive and above VF.
Original, crusty and luster shimmers protected areas.

Tons of luster with fiery red accents. Originally in the collection of Dale Heisler. Purchased by his good friend Glenn Peterson after his passing. Great coin with a great provenance.
O-102 CAC Queller. Deep blue and purple hues from a long stay in an envelope.
Found raw at the Chattanooga show in 2021, this coin glows like a sunset under light. Now CAC.
CAC. Original, blemish free surfaces and attractive album toning.
From the D.S. collection, sold by Great Collections in 2022. Nice original auburn toning compliment the luster, adequate for an AU50. This is the late die state, a very tough coin with a neat die crack from the top of star 12 to bust. 6 graded by PCGS with this being the top pop!
From Downey mail bid auction 57 in January 2024, described as: A spectacular – and original - 1824. The surfaces showcase a panoply of colors. Luster runs deep into the fabric of the coin. The surfaces are virtually free of marks. I wonder whether PCGS worried about the late die state which accounts for some softness in the strike. The coin puts many AU 58s to shame. From the Kings Park Collection.
