Heritage auction description: 1913 5C Type One PR67 PCGS Secure. CAC. From a technical standpoint, this immaculate Type One proof is all that could be desired -- sharply struck with impeccable surfaces and textbook matte finish that attracts specialists of the series to the 1913 Type One design. Pale-gold color surrounds ice-blue centers, with lilac accents for outstanding eye appeal. CAC endorsement recognizes the high quality of this Superb Gem.
Heritage auction description: 1913 5C Type Two PR67 PCGS. Type Two proofs from this first year of issue were struck to the extent of 1,514 coins. The surfaces of this Superb Gem representative show golden patina at first glance, but iridescent accents appear when the coin is rotated, including peach-orange, rose, sky-blue, and mint green. Finely textured fields and a full strike are expected but no less appealing.
Stack's Bowers auction description: 1916 5C PR67 PCGS This richly toned specimen exhibits intermingled highlights of powder blue and reddish-gold on mauve-gray patina. Fully struck, as befits a Proof, with a smooth satin texture. This is the Larry H. Miller coin sold by Stack's Bowers auctions in November 2020. It was under graded as a proof 65 in that sale and subsequently regraded as a proof 67. I purchased it from U.S. Coins and Jewelry in March 2021.
