Ex-PCGS AU-58. BD-2 Variety with eagle's claw touching "A" of "AMERICA" - Previous owner crossed to NGC and then submitted to CAC.
CAC-approved AU-55+ early Half Eagle. Nice-looking coin with attractive coloration and luster. BD-8 Variety with clash marks from the reverse die showing prominently on the obverse behind Liberty's profile.

Last year of the John Reich Bust Left design. Great eye-appeal, CAC-approved, and a perfect fit to bookend the White Oak River Early HE collection.

Nice original orange-gold skin/coloration over much nicer surfaces than typically found.
Ex-Richmond collection. Green-gold coloration with a light crusty patina over both obverse & reverse. Close 2nd to most sought-after C-mint HE, behind the '38-C. Mintage totaled a mere 17,205 coins. This is a better date w/an estimated 130-135 graded by NGC and PCGS in all grades. Problem-free examples are exceptionally difficult to find. Obverse normally comes with a weak/mushy strike. Sharply struck examples are very elusive. Purchased at Mar 2005 Baltimore show.
Green-gold coloration over essentially mark-free surfaces. Some light mint-made roughness along obverse periphery - seems the 40-C typically comes 1 of 2 ways, either without the mint-made roughness, but with a very weak central strike, or with peripheral roughness and sharp, strong central definition. Nice, sharp strike over central elements. Winter notes this as the 2nd rarest date in the series, although I believe the '46-C is actually a bit rarer. Mintage of only 18,992 with NGC/PCGS combined population totalling only 115-120 in all grades. Purchased from ANR in Oct 2000.
Green/orange-gold skin--crusty coloration over lustrous surfaces - very choice
Lovely, CAC-approved example. While not as rare as its small-date counterpart, the 1842-C large-date Half Eagle is still within the top 8-10 toughest dates to locate in the Charlotte series.
Just a terrific example for the date… exactly how an original AU Charlotte Half Eagle should look!

Nice, original VF-30 example obtained in 1995-1996 timeframe. Upgrade EF-45 example added from Fairmont collection sale.
CAC-Approved; the only one in AU-58, with only two other higher graded CAC'd examples. Satiny luster blankets both obverse & reverse with remarkable surfaces and just a hint of wear on the highest points. Most '46-C HEs come with very "chewed up" surfaces... not this one. Typical, soft strike on the reverse shield & arrow feathers.

Great crust factor and eye appeal. No bean in the posted pic, but she's now CAC-certified.

Deep, dirty green-gold coloration covering subdued lustrous surfaces, as original & crusty as they come. Was PCGS XF-40 OGH; now in NGC XF-45 (2066456-002) w/CAC approval.
Unreal originality with remarkable eye appeal. A valid scarcer and highly sought-after date in the series.
The "Big Daddy" of Charlotte mint coinage. The only Charlotte mint coin produced during the Civil War era before the mint’s coining operations shuttered its doors for good. Reflective mirrors with no heavy marks that are typically encountered with this particular date.

Lowest single year mintage for any Charlotte coin with only 3,677 struck. Only the 1842-C $2 1/2 and $5 Small Date varieties had lower production numbers. Attractive, green-gold coloration with original patina covering both obverse and reverse.
