Twenty Cent and Quarter Dollar Type Set, Proof (1820-present)

Once of the challenges of building a Proof Type set of any denomination is the fact that proof issues dated prior to the late 1850s are beyond rare – many border on the impossible. Even the finest known sets are only two thirds complete. What's the problem? Well, how about a No Drapery Seated Quarter? Made in only two years (1838 and 1839), a whopping ONE of each date is known and only the 1838 has been certified by PCGS. The 1853 Arrows and Rays Proof quarter has a population of only three as of this writing, and the Capped Bust quarters are also quite elusive. Bottom line, is that you can realisticly expect to complete only about 80-90% of this set.
