Why Commemorative Half Dollars are not made in silver is beyond my comprehension. To me, the artwork is ruined a little by applying it to a clad planchet. A little over 1200 graded by PCGS, this Italian Stallion falls in the top 5%. I think the obverse of the 1892 version is much nicer but this reverse is superior.

Ok, the sales of this coin makes no sense. Sell a kabillion of World Cup soccer commemoratives in 1994 and then sales drop off drastically for this and the Vietnam Veterans. Not the most impressive looking coin, but the detail and what is represents makes it a top 10 winner for me.

With under 700 graded by PCGS and a population of 49 in perfect 70 grade, this was an obvious choice. The detail of the runners is exceptional.

No treading on this specimen. The obverse of this coin is far from my favorite, but the reverse is the classic design of individuality and strength. In my opinion all commemoratives blanks should have this brilliant satin finish. About 2000 graded by PCGS, so this coin fits perfectly in the top 8%.
Both obverse and reverse of this coin is classic. In my opinion, even though very attractive, the forward facing Franklin doesn't hold a candle to the profile view used on Franklin Half Dollars. The handwritten signature is a nice touch, just as it is on the 2006 Nickel design. Not as uncommon as it's sister coin, but it is the design beauty that keeps it in my top 10.
