Olympics Modern Commemoratives, Circulation Strikes and Proof (1983-1984)
After a 28 year hiatus, the U.S. Commemorative Coin program was resumed with the 1982 release of the George Washington Commemorative. During the following two years, the Olympiad in Los Angeles was commemorated with a major three coin release (two silver dollars and a $10 gold piece). Included was the 1984-W gold $10, the first coin ever to bear the W mintmark for the West Point facility. This 13 coin set includes both the Mint State and Proof issues.
