The half dollar was the silver coin of the realm from the beginning of its production in 1794 until the early part of the twentieth century. That may be hard for today’s populace to believe, as today the half dollar is seldom seen in commerce. From the Flowing Hair type to the modern counterpart, the Kennedy half dollar, the half dollar type set contains very popular issues. The toughest to obtain is the two-year type coin, the Draped Bust Small Eagle design, issued in very limited quantities in 1796 and 1797. The Flowing Hair issue (1794-95) is more available but immensely popular, as are the Draped Bust Large Eagle and Capped Bust types. Throw in the Liberty Seated, Barber, Walking Liberty, and Franklin half types and one understands that each type has its followers. A complete type set of these majestic issues of the past is rewarding to the owner and is admired by all numismatists. In this set, both circulation strikes and Proofs may be used.

Notes: This set has bonuses and deductions. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
