Capped Bust Half Dollars Reeded Edge with Major Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1836-1839)

Two different types are in this set, the earlier type which shows "50 Cents" at the bottom of the reverse and the later type which reads "Half Dol." While not a large set, the Reeded Edge Basic Set does include two tougher dates - the 1836, with a paltry mintage of only 1,200 pieces and the 1839-O, the first mintmarked half dollar struck for circulation. The major varieties set adds the extremely rare 1839 "Small Letters" reverse.
