Smooth copper surfaces and attractive for this grade level. Free of any deep or detracting field or device marks and quite pleasing for the collector. Usual die sinking at MER of AMERICA and HALF CENT is shallow. PCGS# 1015. From Kagin's sale of January 1979, lot 23; and our (Bowers and Merena's) Pittsburgh ANA Sale of August 1989, lot 1103.
1796 C2 Liberty Cap Half Cent, With Pole, R4. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as GENUINE, with code #98 for damage. The coin exhibits G5+ details and great, medium brown color, but the planchet has been beat up and looks a bit wavy. However, the date is 100% BOLD and plenty of the reverse details are strong, too. I love key-date coins like this because although it has minor problems, the color and eye appeal is still decent, the date is completely bold, and the light damage makes the coin much more "affordable." YES, I know how crazy it sounds to call an $ggnnn.00 coin "affordable," but this is a 1796 HALF CENT folks!
shows characteristics of Manley 4 and 5. Y in liberty clearly visible but ICA are pretty much gone. A Manley 4.5 in the making ?

1804 1/2 C Plain 4, No Stems MS63 Brown PCGS. CAC. C-13, B-10, R.1. A late die state with little border dentilation visible only at the lower reverse. The lower obverse and upper reverse rims are flat and wide, giving the appearance of a broadstruck coin, a result of the die state. This piece has a sharp central strike with cartwheel luster on the dark chocolate and tan surfaces. Our EAC grade MS60.(
