My goal is to have a matched set in MS62 with the major keys in AU58. For me MS62 is the sweet spot of this series for eye appeal and cost. I believe that since hair lines are darn near impossible to see without help that MS62 coins can look every bit as good as an MS64. Sometimes even better with a bit of dirt and toning mixed in. I have found a few but the task is difficult.
Take a look at a few photos while you are here, my favorites are the 1910-S and 1912 for the natural aged coloring. Please contact me with comments and questions as I love to chat.
I am always looking for improved MS62 examples. I think this is the sweet spot of collecting this series and plan on always being on the lookout for something better. I will even consider trading an MS64 example for an MS62 example with superior eye appeal.
If you are new to this series AU58 is the secondary sweet spot. With a little effort you can have AU58 examples that look almost every bit as good as MS62 for a fraction of the cost. Be patient as there are some dipped, unnatural, dinged up AU58's. There is a range within this single grade as there is within all grades and it is worth while personally and financially to look for the higher end of a single grade.
