1939-D 10C MS66+ FB PCGS #5019

While not this coin, I have in my possession a 39 D of very high grade which has the EXACT puncheon mark of the 42/1 D reverse due #2. While this is an otherwise unmentioned and accepted fact, the Mintmark proves the existence of more than one accepted stage working die obverse as well. If you look through coinfacts at the Mintmark, you will see one has a more angular top inner notch while the other is rounded. I long attributed this to there being a shift in the machine which further impressed the dues relief, restricting flow. But after too many other non-anomalous proof and business strikes related through the 30’s, the Puncheon itself is how two reverse dies is confirmable. 39 D has the puncheon stored and used for 42/1 D. It may have originated from a cross series D. Also, I have 28 S and 44 s with an S (aside from mint workers themselves, I can only attribute an S to Shaffer of Great Britain) approval stamp in the mounded feather of type of 18 obverse as it was amended as referenced in all authoritative reference books. In line to that, I have found and possess a 1916 type 4 feather and two secondary (likely from a third + impressed master hub) die pairings for 1916 and 1 for17, 18, 19, plus about 50 more…. CONECA and CAC might rethink their master listings. Many coins use dies from other series, with some dies being stored and rekindled for sun Mayer authentication through luster and relief specificities. In line with both congressional spending and mint mockery as well as resolution. Todays photo inventories are proving all the old descriptive reference books like breen - Rick snow- years ahead of his mastery.
