1874 Mint Set with Gold

The 1874 Mint Set was the second (and last) set of the decade that featured arrows at the date of the three minor silver coins. Not surprisingly, it will be the "CC" mint Dime and Half Dollar and to a lesser extent, the "CC" Trade Dollar that will provide the challenge. The Dime is especially tough, as most of the 10,800 that were minted saw heavy circulation and very few were preserved in Mint State. PCGS has certified only thee Mint State examples in thirty years. The Half is scarce, but not in the same league as the Dime. While most all of the Half Eagles, Eagles and Double Eagles from this period are tough (especially in high grade) 1874 is one of the "easier" years. Keeping in mind that "easy" is relative, and that except for the 1874 $10, you probably won't be able to get Mint State examples of most of the larger gold coins, this set is certainly one of the most completable of the period.
