Robert Knight Hiatt (1920-2003), James Richard Kwapil (1920-2012)

关于此套币: RKH: Although technically a cousin (the son of Pearl Elizabeth Paterson's sister), 'Uncle Bob' will always have a special place in my heart. A real gentleman who never married, he worked in the bookstore at USC for over 30 years and is responsible for my attachment to the USC football team. Every time I watch a Southern Cal game I am reminded of this special man and the role he played in my life.

JRK: Most of my fond memories of Uncle Jim occurred while I was an adult and grew to understand his disciplined life-style. He and his wife Virginia (Jina), lived on the family property in Sonora, CA for many years and we would enjoy visiting them as often as we could at 'Mt. Brow' (so named because of it's location on the side of a hill). Jina and Jim started 'living' after their retirement; taking up alpine skiing and traveling. They lived in Vladivostok, Russia for over a year serving a mission for the Catholic church and we twice took them into the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada exploring.
In 2006, at the young age of 86, Jim and I participated in a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, Bosnia to visit a Catholic shrine. We traveled to Sarajavo, Split and Dubrovnik from Oct. 26th to Nov.15th. Many a fond memory of the excursion remains with me to this day.
