The 1927 Mint Set, like most of the 20s sets is not terribly difficult in low to moderate Mint State grades, but becomes extremely difficult in higher MS grades. The 1927-S Quarter with a Full Head is one of the major rarities of 20th century U.S. coinage, with values into six figures for high grade examples. The San Francisco issue of the Nickel, Half and Dollar are also quite rare in top grade. Bringing the gold into the 1927 Mint Set introduces one of the great 20th century rarities into the mix. The 1927-D $20 is probably the most expensive regular issue coin of the century, and easily breaks into seven figures in Mint State grades. The 1927-S $20 is also not cheap, and nice examples are six figure coins.
