1942 Mint Set with Major Varieties

The entry of America into WWII at the end of 1941 brought some changes to some circulating coins the following year. The five cent coin, which contained 25% nickel (a critical war metal) got a new alloy composed of 35% silver and 56% copper (down from 75%). The new material wasn't introduced though until October, 1942, so two types of 1942-P nickel exist, making the 1942 Mint Set a 16-piece set. However, when major varieties are included, the number jumps to 20 coins. As expected, the four additional coins provide most of the challenge, and include the 1941/1 dimes from Philadelphia and Denver, the 1942 D/D nickel and the 1942-D Doubled Die Obverse quarter.
