1950 Mint Set

The government did not issue an official mint set for 1950, but as sales in the early years (1947-1951) were quite low, the impact on the supply of mint state coins available today is negligible. No halves were struck in San Francisco this year, so the 14-piece set will contain only two Franklins. The 1950 Denver nickel was a low mintage issue, but due to heavy promotion, hoarding and speculation in the late 1950s and early 1960s, plenty of mint state pieces survive today.
