1959 Mint Set

The year 1959 marked the 50th anniversary of the Lincoln Cent, and to commemorate the event, the reverse of the cent was changed from the Wheat Ears reverse to one depicting the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The remainder of the set remained unchanged since 1948. 1959 also marked the transition of the government-issued Mint Sets from the "double" sets packaged in cardboard to single sets sealed in plastic.
