GDH Peace Dollars 1921 - 1935 CAC

关于此套币: I have collected coins since I was 8 years old and my GrandFather took me to coin auctions and bought me small items such as Indian Head Cents, Buffalo Nickels and Steel Pennies. When I was in my early twenties and newly married (This was the early 1980's) I went into the local coin shop one Saturday and the owner had a set of raw Peace Dollars in an album in high grade circulated and I asked the price. It was $800 and that was beyond my means at the time but I never forgot that set.

Several years later I started my own raw set but it was mid-grade circulated. When I completed that set I was very proud of it and I was content with it,,,,,,,,, for awhile. Then PCGS and certified coins came along and I started submitting my own coins for grading. At that time you had to go thru a PCGS Authorized Dealer and I went thru SilverTowne. I was hooked on certified coins as I was never comfortable spending BIG money on raw coins. I was smart enough to know that I wasn't good enough at grading to spend BIG money on raw coins. I started buying certified Peace Dollars at coin shops and at coin shows and later at on-line auctions and my certified set was underway. I joined The PCGS Registry and started building my sets early in the Registry Set beginnings. I remember that when I joined there were less that 3,000 sets total in all categories combined.

So fast forward to my current set,,,,,,,,,,I started this set many years ago. My 1st goal was to get a set in all PCGS MS63. I couldn't find a 1934-S that I liked in an MS63 grade so I stepped up and purchased an MS64 coin that I really liked. I am glad that I picked that particular coin as it upgraded to MS64+ and later CAC. My next goal was to upgrade the set as coins became available and this eventually brought me to where the set is now with an average grade of 64.298. I submitted all the coins in the set to CAC several years ago and 75% of them passed. This led me to my next goal of getting a set in 100% PCGS & CAC and with True-View photos so I purchased replacements as needed to achieve that goal . I didn't reach that goal until 12/12/18 when I purchased the 1926-D MS65 CAC with True-View photo from Larry Shapiro Rare Coins. I continue to upgrade the set when I find the right coin at the right price.
