1913 Proof Set with Gold

The matte portion of the 1913 Proof set grew slightly this year with the replacement of the Liberty Nickel with the Buffalo Nickel. Both the Type 1 and Type 2 varieties are included in the Registry making this a six piece set. Roughly 600 pieces each of the three Barber Silver coins were struck this year, but an ample supply of high grade pieces have survived, keeping prices reasonable. The challenge in the gold portion of the set will be both in locating the coins, and then paying for them. PCGS certified pieces appear on average less than once a year, and when they do, typically command prices in the mid-to-upper five figure range
