1936-1942 Proof Set

The early pre-war Proofs have long fascinated collectors. There is something exciting about seeing such classic designs as the Buffalo Nickel, Mercury Dime and Walking Liberty Half in gem Proof condition. For those collectors who crave only the "caviar" of modern proof coinage, we offer this 38-piece set made up of proof coins from 1936 to 1942. It's not terribly difficult to complete, as none of the coins are rare in the middle proof grades. However at the top end, the population numbers thin out quickly, and building a set of PR-66 to PR-69 examples will prove a serious challenge. We can think of few sets that offer a more impressive visual impact though this one.
