Wondercoin's Pattern Liberty Nickel Collection

关于此套币: Over the past 25+ years, I have collected this Pattern Liberty Nickel set with only coins I could locate in Gem quality to Superb Gem quality. I wanted this Registry Set to be a masterpiece of the most incredible quality specimens that were available in the generation that I collected them. Now, of course, some of these pattern coins are so ultra rare that a Gem example only becomes available every two or three generations, if ever at all! I knew that going into the project; this was likely going to be a life-long pursuit. And, it has brought me great pleasure knowing that a number of the coins in this collection are rarer, or equally rare, than the 1913 Liberty nickel (that comes at the very end of this series, while these pattern nickels all come at the very beginning).

This set consists of simply the finest quality, and rare to ultra rare, pattern Liberty Nickels I could locate (and successfully win often times in highly contested auction battles) over past twenty-five years. This collection can never be 100% completed as a few R-8 coins are impounded in the collections of some of the greatest museums in the USA. But, that is both slightly frustrating and very liberating at the same time. When I started collecting this set more than a quarter-century ago, my goal was to build it in Gem or better quality with a 2/3 completion rate. Now, about 26 years later, my 100% Gem quality set is 69% complete with PCGS coins, and about 74% complete including a couple very rare NGC specimens . My goal for this set has been achieved and anything accomplished from here is simply “icing on the cake”.
