"Blaze of Glory" The silver-gray surfaces of this Fine half dime display extensive rainbow-like patination around the obverse border, and just a sliver of the the same color palette around the reverse margin. The obverse has good definition on some of the hair, and the eye shows. There are no mentionable marks on either side. (HA June 2019)

"Eritque Arcus Auream" (A Golden Rainbow) Although a plentiful date in a grade often seen, this Gem 1904 double eagle possesses an attribute that is distinctly rare for any double eagle: rainbow toning. In the right obverse margin and around the entire reverse border, colorful rainbow hues form attractive arcs that are quite spectacular for a gold coin. The interior of each side is deep orange-gold, and the strike is sharp. No major abrasions are seen. The reverse fields are semiprooflike. (HA December 2019)

CAC Ira & Larry Goldberg Sale 87 Lot 91 1849 First Restrike Proof-Only Breen 1-B Rarity-6. PCGS graded Proof 62 Brown. Uniform light brown and golden tan. Essentially flawless; void of any spots, stains, or contact marks. The only mark is a tiny struck-through line in the middle of the jawline, and this was caused by a piece of lint pressed between the die and planchet. The fields are smooth and slightly reflective but the mirrors are not deep, which is typical of these restrikes. Most likely lightly cleaned long ago, as were most of the coins in the famous King Farouk Palace Collection. This coin is #7 in Rick Coleman's list of first restrike 1849 proof half cents. Weight 85.5 grains. Comes with an impressive provenance. Estimated Value $2,500-UP. (realized $4,113.00) Ex King Farouk (The Palace Collection), Sotheby's 1954-A. "Fundamental Freedom" What a neat early dollar! This B-3, BB-234 has a very unique look. This piece displays a generally problem free, moderate circulation on both sides. Ages ago, this coin was cleaned before being placed in a Wayte Raymond or similar album where it acquired a lovely multi-colored patina that frames both sides. The devices are brighter silver giving this coin a "circ-cam" look. A few minor marks and a short scratch are noted, along with a fingerprint left when placed in the album. A cool piece that will appeal to many collectors. (LA April 2021)
