An amazing SUPERB GEM survivor, one of the finest in the entire series, certainly for the date. Well preserved, the surfaces are pristine and as nice today as the day it came off the dies. Intensely lustrous surfaces enliven a lovely pastel blue patination. The devices are boldly struck up from an expertly executed blow from the dies. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 17, NGC 12. We had the pleasure of selling the two most recent examples; one in October 2017 for $11,750 and the other was the Angel Dees coin, which sold for $12,338. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $13,500. There are two MS68+s graded finer, one of which is in the 2019 ANA auction, but had not hammered at the time of writing this description. Worthy of a very high end set and note that no MS68 has ever been awarded a CAC bean, so if you are waiting for one, that wait is futile! Cert. Number 36773265 PCGS # 003980
