Rarely found in GEM grade, the 23-S is a major condition rarity. Although plentiful in terms of strict mintage figures, tracking down a GEM example becomes a monumental challenge because of the weak strikes associated with the date. As we all know, 1923-S do not come looking like 1923 P's. In fact, they generally do not come looking great at all. This is in fact a stunning, totally ORIGINAL GEM! Its quality and eye appeal worthy of the assigned grade and CAC approval! This date is quite scarce in GEM grade and EXTREMELY RARE any finer. An MS65+ is likely the finest grade example most collectors can afford to own. An incredible brilliant luster radiates boldly all over! Overall, this coin appears clean, and only with the aid of glass can you find a few trivial superficial scuffs and frost breaks, but none are deep or serious. The luster is way above average for the date. Both sides display a hint of gold. Most important, Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are sharply struck. The eye appeal is excellent! PCGS 223, NGC 85, CAC 16. There are 14 in MS65+ at PCGS with a mere four coins graded higher, a single MS67 the finest. The only PCGS MS65+ CAC to sell in auction brought $25,850 in our September 2019 Regency Auction 34. More recently a PCGS MS66 sold for $49,200 in August 2021. This very attractive GEM that will delight even the pickiest of Peace dollar collectors! We anticipate very strong bidding when this GEM crosses the block. Cert. Number 25211585 PCGS # 7362
