Nor can the pedigree, though not noted on the insert, this is ex Eric P. Newman Collection. WOW! Is this an incredible example for the grade. Totally original rings of rainbow toning frame both sides most notably on the obverse, highlighted by the intensely brilliant, watery reflective mirrors. A frosty texture covers the devices, creating bold contrast between devices and the surrounding fields. The eye appeal is exceptional! Only 575 Proofs were struck. PCGS 2, NGC 2, CAC 4 (this coin is likely on the CAC Pop twice). This coin realized $11,750 in the November 2013 Newman sale; more recently we sold a PCGS/CAC example for $18,800. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $20,000. Just a single NGC PR69 CAM is graded finer, a coin that realized $37,600 in the 2017 FUN auction.
