Obverse: View of the lighthouse, with light beams sent in various directions; in background to right, two ships under sail; to left, winged sphinx reclining facing slightly left; Reverse: Legend in 11 lines pertaining to the lighthouse's position and rebuilding. Sporting matte surfaces and a slate gray appearance, this interesting and SCARCEnautical medal alludes to the famous ancient wonder of the world, the Pharos (lighthouse) of Alexandria, through the winged sphinx to the lighthouse's left.
