This FABULOUS O-117 has to rank very high up on the Condition Census, and is likely the second FINEST KNOWN of this R-1 variety. Beautifully toned on both obverse and reverse, this PQ GEM has a bold luster and radiant look. The details are sharply struck up, and the defining attribution points, including the die lines off the left wing, have pinpoint definition. Rich blue tones outline the silver-pewter, golden-russet-tan, and apricot-rose hues in the centers. The eye appeal is outstanding. PCGS 6, NGC 4. There has not been a PCGS MS66 sold in auction since a PCGS/CAC MS66 sold in February 2013 for $28,750. Prior to that, one sold in 2004. Clearly these do not appear in auction with any frequency. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $25,000. What a great looking GEM, one that will delight any collector of type or early halves by date. Bid accordingly! Cert.
