JR-5. Tied for FINEST 1835 dime graded by either PCGS or NGC, and it is worthy of its lofty GEM grade! Brilliant mint luster gleams all over on both sides, shimmering from below a lovely, original, mottled olive, tan, russet, gold, and slate patina. The sharply struck devices stand out against generally smooth, problem free surfaces (a strong glass reveals a tick or two and are mentioned for full disclosure). The eye appeal is high end, and tied with the Pogue coin for finest graded at PCGS. PCGS 4, NGC 6. NONE ARE GRADED FINER at either service. Only the Pogue coin, a JR-1, has ever sold in a PCGS holder, realizing $16,450 in February 2016, which happened to be a soft time in the market. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $17,500. Seems cheap for a coin of this vintage in such a high grade. A great coin for type or date purposes, very few in the entire series grade so high. Good luck! Cert. Number 38475455 PCGS # 004527
