- 1712-D 30 Deniers, or Mousquetaire. Lyon Mint. Vlack-5. Rarity-3 (for type). Doubled Die Obverse, Doubled Die Reverse. EF-40 (PCGS). 36.7 grains. A genuine doubled die mint error, and exceedingly rare as such in the 30 deniers series. Doubling is more extensive and easier to appreciate on the obverse, but also evident on the reverse. Both sides are sharply defined overall with speckled olive toning to nearly full silvering. Planchet flawed at lower left obverse, lightly striated and a bit rough elsewhere.
