Ranking near the very top of the population, this borderline SUPERB quality GEM example is a magnificent 09-S V.D.B. It is one of the FINEST examples from a limited mintage of only 484,000. Blazing, fiery red surfaces show impeccably brilliant luster that glows all over. There are a few minor tiny flecks and ticks that can be seen with a strong glass, but to the naked eye, this coin stands out for its virtually flawless surfaces. The color is stunning, simply stunning and the strike is exceptionally sharp. The eye appeal is amazing, and we really do not understand why CAC did not bean this HIGH END and high quality GEM. PCGS 27, NGC 1. Only four non-CAC examples have sold in auction, the most recent of which brought $11,750 in the 2017 FUN auction, but prior to that, one sold for $18,213 in June 2016.
